7 Strand Platinum 3 Stone Diamond Ring

A stretch of cable that opens up to diamonds like peas in a pod. That roughly sums up the brief to this engagement ring which has delivered a quite unique project to work on! The finished article is produced from seven individual strands of platinum in a twist which opens at the top to reveal a trilogy of diamonds. The result is interesting elegant and beautiful! 3 Stone Princess Cut

The latest ring of my bench is this Platinum Princess cut 3 stone, made with an E colour 0.63ct centre stone. The design is a modern classic with claws intersecting through sweeping archways.

East pop Metric

Metric Collective is open again for another blast at the end of September. We will be getting involed with a vast mix of other Artist from the East of London to show over in Shepards Bush as part of East Pop West, running for three days from September the 30th in Unit 1, Goldhawk industrial estate, Vinery way, W6 0BE. Metric Shop summer 2011

This weekend brings our Metric Shop at 94 Columbia Road to a close. It’s been Three amazing months with such a great response to our collective! I’ve also now had a few weeks to bring to life the design of our competition winner.

The way this design intersects together brings a great deal of interest from all angles as it translated beautifully into Silver from the middle drawing in the post below.

As part of our Metric Shop we have been running a competition with local school children from ages 9 to 10, to design a piece of geometric jewellery.

From lots of talented entries, here are the Ten finalists displayed up in the shop:

The over all winner was David displayed in the middle who will have his piece realized for him in silver.

Metric Collective

The last few months have all been about bringing together a collaborative project. As we at Shimell and Madden jewellery have a certain direction and aesthetic we are exploring, parallels became apparent with other artists we know, who share a vision of making craft more accessible from the workshops straight to the consumer.

With ideas and enthusiasm coming together, we have taken a leap of all working together to produce a 3 month exhibition at 94 Columbia Road to showcase our work and ethos. Our collective of artists include ourselves, Shimell and Madden displaying jewellery with Myia Bonner and Esther Benjamins Trust along side Illustrator Jake Ambridge and Chrome yellow Books to produce our geometric themed “Metric Shop” dressed and installed by Lora Avedian.

We opened up last weekend with a really positive response so far and a good little celebration with extra help coming in from all friends and family. Thanks to all our parents and Ina Dorthea for keeping the party content with wine and geometric canapes, Matt Densham for the online support, and Simon Rees for the use of Number Ninety Four!!

Hammered Wedding Bands

Here’s a pair of wedding bands in two different materials. His is fashioned from Palladium and hers, a rich 18ct yellow gold. They are tied together with the same hammered finish, applied as stated by hand and hammer, for that ancient look.

Platinum and 2ct Baguette cut Diamonds

There is quite a lot of weight in this Platinum Half Eternity Ring. The stones are 2 carats of baguette cut diamonds. These stones have sharp clean lines and demand a high degree of skill to compliment them with a clean and straight channel setting edge. despite the weight involved these clean lines still provide a refined classic look!

Time Segment Earrings

With a simpler aspect in mind we have also produced these segment earings which tie in with the Time collection, These are shown above in a cluster of individulal pairs solely as precious metal, or below, set with a central Ruby cabochon akin to the movable designs.
